We are a friendly independent walking group founded in 1976. Our walks are led by our members, are quite gentle and are usually around 4 miles of Herefordshire's countryside. Walks take place every other Thursday starting at 10.30, almost always starting and ending at a pub where those of us who wish to are able to pre-order lunch to be enjoyed after the walk. There is also an annual lunch. Amblers and their guests walk at their own risk but we do have public liability insurance. Dogs are not permitted on our walks. We have a personal data privacy policy and ask new members to agree to this. Quarterly programmes are sent out by email (or post for members who do not use email) giving details of the planned walks. An annual subscription of £4 per person covers our costs.

18th September: Backney bridge to Foy. Leader Sheila.
An easy, generally flat walk of 4.5 miles. Slight incline up road at the beginning, then on through easy field paths with good views of May hill to one side and Garway hill to the other. Passing by Foy suspension bridge, before returning on path besides the river Wye and Foy church. Returning to Backney bridge by a stretch of road. No stiles! Meet at Backney bridge picnic area where there is free adequate parking...car share would be good to cut down on space we take up. To get there, turn off A49 at Bridstow before Wilton roundabout and take road towards Backney bridge approx 2 miles..then at T junction, take a right for Foy..then car park soon on your right. Details for lunch to follow nearer the time. This walk follows on from an earlier walk I arranged to Ballingham bridge... a chance to visit another bridge that was once part of the GWR line from Gloucester to Hereford...the distinctive brick piers of the old bridge still stand to remind us of an age gone by!
