2018
4th October:  Madley. Leaders Rob and Helen.
Meet at the Red Lion Inn, Madley. Leave Hereford on Abergavenny road (A465), just past Belmont Abbey take B4349 / B4352 to Madley - Inn on right in centre of village. A completely flat walk over meadows and country lanes with close-up viewing of the Madley Satellite Dishes - one short road section. Several stiles, 4 miles. Meals available.

18th October: Dinmore Woods. Leaders Thelma and Jenny.
Meet at Dinmore for a walk through lovely Autumn colours. Approx. 1½ hours. Food at the cafe.There is a charge for parking.

1st November: Weobley. Leaders Jackie and Eric.
A 4 mile easy walk with 1 stile starting from the Salutation Inn where you will be able to order lunch, if required, in advance at 10am. There is parking at the Inn but if there is not enough there is a free car park off Bell Square.

15th November: Ashperton. Leader John Taylor via Jeff & Jan.
Meet at the Trumpet Inn (HR8 2RA) to order lunches then at St. Bartholomew's Church car park, Ashperton (HR8 2SW) to start the walk at 10.30. We have a guest leader who will show us the church, lead us on the Ashperton Heritage Trail, then on a spur to the canal tunnel. A flat walk, no stiles - approx. 3 miles. Interesting history along the way - a bit different to our usual walks - I hope you enjoy it.

29th November: The Mynde, Wormelow, Leaders Malcolm & Janet.
Meet in the Park Hall car park, Wormelow (now Simply Stunning). Take the A466 Monmouth road off the A49 Hereford to Ross road after Callow hill for Wormelow. Lunch will be at the Grafton Inn - Malcolm and Janet will have a menu at Wormelow and will phone our order in before/during the walk. Easy 4 mile walk along field and woodland paths, one stile.

13th December: Little Cowarne, Leader Gareth
Meet at The Three Horseshoes at Little Cowarne for a 4½ mile walk through orchards and fields, also some road walking. May be muddy. Some gradual up hill. 2 stiles.

2019

10th January:  Peterstow. Leader Gareth.
Meet at the Red Lion at Winters Cross (just before Peterstow on the A49). A 3½ mile undulating moderate walk including the edges of two fields and a delightful bridle track.

24th January:  Tillington. Leader Gareth.
Meet at the Bell Inn, Tillington for a 4 mile undulating walk through fields and orchards and a visit to Burghill church. No stiles.

7th February:  Aylestone Hill/Munstone. Leaders Rob and Helen.
Meet at the Swan Inn, Aylestone Hill. Suitable winter walk through Aylestone Park, Hereford racecourse and The Furlongs estate – mainly over pavement, farm track and minor roads.

21st February:  Bartestree. Leaders Jackie and Eric.
An easy flat walk under 4 miles with one stile and one hard to open gate starting at the Godwins (the New Inn as was) opposite Bartestree Village Hall. We will cross the main road twice and a bit of quiet road walking and some field walking.

7th March:  Wellington Heath. Leader Gareth.
Meet at The Farmers Arms Wellington Heath Ledbury for a 4 mile easy, fairly flat, walk through orchards and fields.
Directions. By Ledbury Station take the B4214 under the railway bridge. In a few hundred yards take the right turn signed Wellington Heath & Hope End. Pass Frith Farm on your right. Just past 30 mph sign turn right up Horse Road and follow road through houses to the pub.

21st March:  Eardisley. Leaders Geoff & Deanne.
Meet at
the Tram Inn, Eardisley The Bells Inn at Almeley for an easy 2.5 mile walk with no stiles including a Daffodil Walk around the lakes and grounds of the private residence Oaklands.
 
4th April: Annual lunch at The Castlefields, Clifford.

18th April:  Canon Pyon. Leaders Judith and Heather.
Meet at Nags Head pub Canon Pyon. A 3.5 miles undulating walk with excellent views. Fields and roads, some longer grass so could be wet depending on weather. Two short and gentle uphill stretches. Many gates but no stiles.

2nd May: Breinton. Leaders Jackie and Eric.
The walk will start at Wyevale garden centre in Kings Acre road. About 4.5 miles easy flat and no stiles. We will carefully cross Kings Acre road twice.

16th May: Dinmore. Leaders Thelma and Jenny.
'Spring Walk'. A lovely walk (approx. 1½ hours) at Dinmore Woods through the bluebells and primroses with food at the cafe. There is a charge for parking.

30th May: Leominster (North). Leaders Rob and Helen
Meet at the Talbot Hotel, Leominster for a relatively easy, flat walk alongside rivers Kenwater and Lugg over meadows, woodland paths and country roads. Take A49 Leominster, at Marlbrook roundabout (by Cadbury's plant) go left on A4361 into town centre, at mini roundabout go straight on – Talbot car park 100 yds on left. Please note that because of limited parking car sharing would be helpful. The hotel operates an automatic number plate recognition system, straight after parking go to reception and register your car number indicating you are with the Amblers walking group. Meals available. 3 stiles. 4 miles.

13th June: Fownhope. Leaders Rosemary and Margery.
Meet at New Inn Fownhope. Easy undulating walk "in and out of woods". Fields, tracks and a few stiles. 4 miles. CANCELLED - WEATHER.

27th June: Bosbury. Leaders Wyn & Maria.
Meet at the
Bell Inn village hall, lunch at the Bell Inn. Directions - take A4103 towards Worcester, turn right onto B4214 towards Ledbury then left at T-junction to Bosbury. A 4 mile walk over fields, farmland and quiet lanes. Couple of uphill stretches and 3 4 stiles.
11th July: Bartestree Backwards. Leaders Jackie and Eric.
Meet at the The Godwins for a nice 4 mile easy walk with 2 styles and one busy road.
25th July: Dilwyn. Leader Judith.
A 3¾ mile easy walk completely on country lanes. No stiles. Meet at Crown Inn, Dilwyn. Very limited parking at pub but plenty of free parking in village. Meals available at the pub. CANCELLED - WEATHER.
8th August: From Stocktonbury Gardens. Leader Gareth.
Meet at Stocktonbury Gardens, Kimbolton. A49 to Leominster, continuing right at roundabout at far end of Leominster bypass. After ¾ mile turn right signposted Kimbolton. Gradual uphill on road to the church - please stay on pavement. Mainly flat afterwards through fields and a farm yard. 3 stiles, 3½ miles. Gardens can be viewed – cost £7.
22nd August: Lugg Meadows/Shelwick Green. Leaders Rob and Helen.
Meet at the Swan Inn, Aylestone Hill, for a flat riverside walk with return via Munstone Ridge. Good views, some stiles - which are in good order. Meals available. 4 miles. CHANGED TO AYLESTONE PARK CAR PARK AND NO LUNCH PLAN (SUGGEST COCK OF TUPSLEY) AS SWAN CLOSED FOR REFURBISHMENT.

5th September: Tillington. Leaders John & Jo.
Meet at the Bell Inn Tillington (HR48LE). A 4 mile walk over fields, orchards and quiet lanes, a short section of road walking on the return to the pub. 2 stiles and couple of uphill stretches.

19th September: From The Three Elms. Leaders Jackie and Eric.
Meet at the Three Elms Pub in Canon Pyon Road (top end of Three Elms Road, HR4 9QQ) for an easy 'magical mystery' walk of about 4 miles with no more than 2 stiles.

3rd October: Dilwyn. Leader Judith.
A 3¾ mile easy walk completely on country lanes. No stiles. Meet at Crown Inn, Dilwyn. Very limited parking at pub but plenty of free parking in village. Meals available at the pub.

Meet at Dinmore Woods for an easy walk with Autumn colours at Queenswood. Good food at the cafe. Please note that there is a charge for parking.
31st October: Fownhope. Leaders Rosemary and Margery.
Meet at New Inn Fownhope. Easy undulating walk "in and out of woods". Fields, tracks and a few stiles. 4 miles.
14th November: Dymock. Leaders Jackie and Eric.
Meet at the Beauchamp Arms, park in the field across the road. An easy flat walk, about 4 miles with a couple of stiles. CANCELLED DUE TO WEATHER CONDITIONS.
28th November: From The Wye Inn. Leaders Margaret and Eddie.
Meet at the Wye Inn, Holme Lacy Road HR2 6EF for a flat walk of about 3.5 miles along the south bank of the river Wye, through Bartonsham and returning along the Greenway cycle/footpath route. No stiles, parking and meals available at the pub.

12th December: Pencombe. Leader Gareth.
Meet at The Three Horseshoes Inn at Little Cowarne HR7 4RQ and order pensioners lunch. Then car share to Pencombe where you bear right and park in small car park just past the church. Walk mainly on country tracks, gradual uphill for first 20 minutes but option to go by car half way and park. 3 mile walk, one stile. CANCELLED DUE TO WEATHER CONDITIONS.

2020

16th January: The Hereford City Sculpture Trail. Leader Judith.
A 3 3/4 mile easy walk on good terrain around the city, including two fields if good conditions underfoot. Start at The Spread Eagle in King Street after ordering lunch. If travelling by car suggest parking at the Leisure Pool which we will pass on our way back to the pub giving an opportunity to change footwear if you wish. A leaflet describing the trail is available from the tourism stall in the Butter Market.

13th February: From the Bay Horse. Leader Gareth.
Meet at the Bay Horse Inn in Kings Acre Road for a 4 mile walk, mainly through fields and woods. No stiles.
12th March: Weobley. Leaders Rob and Helen.
The walk is from the car park off Bell Square (near the Red Lion HR4 8SE). Lunch at the Salutation Inn - Rob and Helen will take our orders at the car park and deliver to the inn before we set off. About a 4 mile walk on grass fields and country roads - a few stiles.
26th March: Dymock. Leaders Jackie and Eric.

9th April: Annual lunch at Burghill Valley Golf Club. CANCELLED DUE TO COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS.

16th April: Hampton Bishop. Leaders Margaret and Eddie.
Meet at the Bunch of Carrots HR1 4JR. A flat walk of about 4 miles with no stiles. The walk is along the river bank towards Hampton Park, onto the outskirts of Hampden Dene via Holywell Gutter Lane, returning on the stank. Parking and food available at the pub. 4th June: Much Dewchurch. Leader Geoff.
Meet at the Black Swan, Much Dewchurch HR2 8DJ. A 4 mile easy walk with 2 stiles. CANCELLED DUE TO COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS.

18th June: Bromyard Downs. Leaders Rob and Helen.
Meet at The Royal Oak Inn on Bromyard Downs. From Hereford take A465 to Bromyard, at bottom of by-pass turn left onto B4203 (Stourport) after 1.5 miles Royal Oak on right - set back from road. Mainly moderate walk with some inclines over downland, fields, and farm tracks - great views. Excellent food available. 4 miles. CANCELLED DUE TO COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS.

Because of the COVID-19 restrictions no further walks were planned until restrictions were eased and confidence returned.

22nd October: To Breinton Springs and back. Leaders Jackie and Eric.
This was a trial ('post-lockdown') walk limited to 30 walkers.
Meet at Blue Diamond garden centre car park, Kings Acre Road. A mainly flat walk of about 4.5 miles, no stiles. Individual arrangements to be made for lunch if desired.

2021
24th June: Huntingdon and around. Leaders Jackie and Eric.
Meet and park at the Co-op car park at Three Elms - near the Three Elms Road entrance. A flat 4 miles (approx.) walk with one stile. Please note that there are no lunch arrangements for this walk - if you would like to have lunch after the walk the Three Elms pub is nearby.

Meet at the Bunch of Carrots HR1 4JR, a flat walk of 4 miles with no stiles. The walk takes us to Mordiford Bridge via the Court and the River Lugg flood stank. We return again along part of the stank but this time returning through the village of Hampton Bishop. Parking and food available at the pub.

5th August: Lugwardine and Bartestree. Leader Judith.
Meet at the Crown and Anchor in Lugwardine (HR1 4AB). A 3-4 mile walk around the fields and lanes of Lugwardine and Bartestree. 2 stiles.

19th August: Aylestone Hill/Lugg Meadows. Leaders Rob and Helen.
Meet at The Swan Inn, Aylestone Hill (HR1 1JJ). A moderate walk over parkland, meadows and pavement. Approx. 3½ miles, 2 stiles.

16th September: Shobdon. Leaders Wyn and Maria.
Meet at The Bateman Arms in Shobdon (HR6 9LX).
Meet at Shobdon Airfield (park at the airfield) for a 3.5 - 4 mile easy walk with one slight incline. Lunch is available at The Hotspur Café at the airfield.

30th September: Weobley. Leader Sylvia.
Gather at Salutation Inn, Weobley (HR4 8SJ) and please park in village car park or village centre if the Salutation Inn car park is full. The Village Hall is also available for parking but you will need to walk back to the Salutation Inn and use their facilities. Walk is for 3/4 miles across fields, some road walking and two stiles. Pub lunch at the Salutation Inn booked before the walk.

14th October: Goodrich. Leader Stan.
A very nice 4.5 mile walk with good views. One stile. We meet and park at The Cross Keys Inn at Goodrich (HR9 6JB) then car share to drive to the start (and end) of the walk where there is on-road parking. Lunch available at the pub.

28th October: Bromyard Downs. Leaders Rob and Helen.
Meet at the Bromyard Downs car park for a mainly moderate walk with some inclines over downland, fields, and farm tracks - great views. 4 miles. Directions: from Hereford take A465 to Bromyard, turn right on reaching the A44 and at the bottom of the by-pass turn left onto Sherford Street (B4203 Stourport). After about 1.5 miles take right turn signposted Bromyard Downs/The Royal Oak. Pass the Royal Oak on the left and the Downs car park is 100-150 yards further on.
For lunch we can go to the Three Horseshoes Inn at Little Cowarne HR7 4RQ - no need to pre-order but we will advise numbers before we start our walk.


11th November: Sutton Walls. Leaders Jackie and Marcia.
Meet at the Golden Cross pub in Sutton St. Nicholas for a walk around Sutton walls, which is a stone age fort, and surrounding areas. About 4  miles with 2 stiles and a short incline.

25th November: Tupsley & Hampton Dene. Leaders Margaret and Eddie.
Meet at the Rose and Crown, Tupsley HR1 1RG, a winters walk along the hidden footpaths and walkways of Tupsley and Hampton Dene. A mainly flat 4 mile walk with no stiles, food and parking available at the pub. Food can be pre-ordered on arrival.

9th December: From the Starting Gate. Leader Gareth.
Meet at the Starting Gate (Beefeater) Holmer Road, Hereford HR4 9RS for a 4 mile circular walk. Gradual uphill for 10 minutes at the start, followed by muddy fields. Good views. Walk includes a further 10 minutes gradual uphill walking – this time on roads.

2022

6th January: From the Starting Gate. Leader Gareth.
Meet at the Starting Gate (Beefeater) Holmer Road Hereford HR4 9RS for a 4 mile circular walk. Gradual uphill for 10 minutes at the start
including 2 high stiles, followed by muddy fields. Good views. Walk includes a further 10 minutes gradual uphill walking on roads.

20th January: Get to know Hereford City Sculpture Trail. Leader Judith.
A gentle 3 3/4 mile walk round Hereford on good terrain with two fields which can be avoided if wet. Meal available after at Ascaris restaurant in West St, please order there before meeting in front of the Cathedral to commence walk.

3rd February: Aylestone Park / Munstone. Leaders Rob and Helen.
Meet at the Swan Inn, Aylestone Hill. Local walk over parkland, farmland and pavement - can be altered to suit weather conditions on the day. Meals available. 3.5 miles.

17th February: Holmer and North West of the City. Leaders Margaret & Eddie.
Meet at the Starting Gate, Hereford HR4 9RS for a 4 mile mainly flat walk which takes us through the race course, alongside Yazor & Widemarsh Brooks and around Widemarsh Common. There is one stepped footbridge on the route with handrails both sides. Food and parking available at the pub.

3rd March: To Bullinghope Church. Leader Gareth.
Meet at the Wye Inn, Holme Lacy Road (HR2 6EF). (Take A49 Ross Road south, and turn left at traffic lights at St. Martin's Church). A 4 mile circular walk out to Bullinghope Church – fairly flat, may involve 200 yards along the Rotherwas Relief Road (strict single file on road sections please). 2 stiles, 1 bridge.

17th March: Weobley. Leader Sylvia.
Gather at Salutation Inn, Weobley (HR4 8SJ) and please park in village car park or village centre if the Salutation Inn car park is full. The Village Hall is also available for parking but you will need to walk back to the Salutation Inn and use their facilities. Walk is for 3 to 4 miles across fields, some road walking and two stiles. Pub lunch at the Salutation Inn booked before the walk.

Subsequently changed: The walk round Weobley will commence in the centre of the village, so please gather in the area called the Rose Garden in the centre of the High Street between the shop on one side of the road and the Green Bean Cafe on the other side. Some of you may be able to park on the road there but there is a small car park at the end of the village round to the left of the Red Lion, or people can park at the village hall, but it is a bit of a walk back to the centre from there. Jules Restaurant on the corner near to where we will gather will serve us lunch and we order our meal before going on the walk. They have a varied lunch menu which can be viewed on line and Jules also has its own brewery. The walk will be as described on the Amblers rota but without stiles.

31st March: Hampton Bishop. Leaders Margaret and Eddie.
Meet at the Bunch of Carrots HR1 4JR, a flat walk of 4 miles with no stiles. The walk takes us to Mordiford Bridge via the Court and the River Lugg flood stank. We return again along part of the stank but this time returning through the village of Hampton Bishop. Parking and food available at the pub.

28th April: Llanwarne. Leaders Malcolm & Janet.
Meet At The Axe & Cleaver, Much Birch, Hereford HR2 8HU. 5 miles south of Hereford on the A49. Walk to Llanwarne across fields, some roads, few stiles, about 4 miles, Food available.

12th May: Sutton Saint Nicholas. Leaders Jackie and Marcia.
A different walk around Sutton Saint Nicholas. Distance is 3.5 to 4 miles approximately, it can be adjusted and is fairly easy going with a little road walking and slightly uphill at the beginning. There is one stile and could be sheep in a field. Parking and food is available at the Golden Cross pub HR13AZ.

26th May: Haugh Woods. Leader Don.
Haugh Woods including Joan's Hill Farm (possibly to see the spotted leaf orchids). Pre order lunch at MOON INN, Mordiford then drive to Haugh woods car park. Four mile walk over woodland tracks and meadows.


9th June: From Stockton Bury Gardens. Leader Gareth.
Meet at Stockton Bury Gardens, Kimbolton HR6 0HB. A49 to Leominster, continuing right at roundabout at far end of Leominster bypass. After 3/4 mile turn right signposted Kimbolton. Gradual uphill on road to the church – please stay on pavement. Mainly flat afterwards through fields and a farm yard. 3 stiles, 3½ miles.

Meet at the Wye Inn HR2 6EF for a 4 mile mainly flat walk with no stiles. The walk takes us across the fields of North Rotherwas to the river, with good views of the riverside gardens at Hampton Park. We then cross the Canary Bridge and head towards Bartonsham, returning along the south bank of the river. Food and parking available at the pub.

7th July: Hay-on-Wye. Leader Gareth.
A 4 mile circular walk up the Offa's Dyke path with a break at Cusop church. 2 stiles. One short uphill section (optional). Park in main car park at back of the castle in Oxford Road (fee payable) in Hay (HR3 5AJ). Toilets at top of car park (fee payable - 30p). Order lunch at the Blue Boar pub (cards only) just down the road to the left before the walk.

21st July: Fownhope. Leaders Margery and Rosemary.
Park at the New Inn Fownhope (HR1 4PE) – food available. Easy walk through woods, fields and tracks entering Haugh Wood at the bottom end. Approx. 6 stiles, 4 miles, no hard climbs.

4th August: Revisiting Lugwardine. Leader Judith. A 4 mile walk round lanes and fields of Lugwardine, returning via Bartestree. 2 stiles. Parking and lunch available at Crown and Anchor pub.

18th August: Athelstan’s wood and around. Leaders Malcolm & Janet.
Meet at The Axe & Cleaver, Much Birch, Hereford HR2 8HU. 5 miles south of Hereford on the A49. Fields, some roads, few stiles, about 4 miles, food available.

1st September: Kinnersley. Leaders Rob and Helen.
Meet at The Kinnersley Arms Inn (HR3 6QA). Take the Brecon Road (A438). At Letton turn right, the Kinnersley Arms is signposted and is 1.5 miles on the left. A moderate walk over meadows, orchard and country lanes. Some stiles. 3.5 miles. Meals available. The Kinnersley Arms has a problem with their kitchen and so we’ll not be able to have lunch there. We are able to use their car park so the walk will still begin and end at the pub. Oakchurch garden centre is quite close so those of us who would like to have lunch could go there.

15th September: From Blue Diamond garden centre. Leaders Jackie and Eric.
An easy 4 mile (ish) walk from Blue Diamond garden centre Tel. 01432 266261 HR4 0SE. No Stiles - 2 road crossings mainly fields and through the cattle market.

29th September: From Bartestree/Lugwardine Village Hall. Leaders Gwyn and Janet.
Lunch can be pre-ordered at the Crown and Anchor, before meeting at the Village Hall. Mainly flat walk with one short incline, but no stiles. Mixture of lane and field/orchard walking. No farm animals. 4.5 miles.

13th October: Sutton St. Nicholas. Leaders Jackie and Marcia.
Meet at the Golden Cross Inn, Sutton St. Nicholas (HR1 3AZ) for a 4 mile ish walk - possibly by the river with nice views. Tba on stiles

27th October: Wellington Heath. Leader Gareth.
Meet at The Farmers Arms Wellington Heath Ledbury HR8 1LS. Five minutes uphill at the start then woodlands and fields out to Coddington Vineyard. Two stiles (twice). Some road walking – single file please. Four miles undulating. Directions: By Ledbury Station take the B4214 under the railway bridge. In a few hundred yards take the right turn signed Wellington Heath & Hope End. Pass Frith Farm on your right. Just past 30 mph sign turn right up Horse Road and follow road through houses to the pub.

10th November: Wellington. Leaders Margaret and Eddie.
Meet at Wellington Garden Centre, A49 Hereford to Leominster Road HR4 8BB for an easy 3.5 mile circular walk around Wellington with one short incline and 3 stiles. Parking and food available at the GC, the winter menu should be available during November.

24th November: Breinton area. Leaders Rob and Helen.
Meet at the Hereford Leisure Pool, St Martin's Avenue HR2 7RQ. Park in the car park to the right hand side (car park 2). A mainly flat 4 mile walk along river verge with return over country lanes and pavements. Lunch at Ascari’s in West Street - no pre-ordering.

8th December: Goodrich. Leader Stan.

12th January: From Kenchester Water Gardens. Leader Gareth.
Meet at Kenchester Water Gardens opposite Lyde Church HR1 3AB. Follow A49 north from Hereford, over the Starting Gate (Beefeater) roundabout for one mile. Gardens on right hand side. A flat 4 mile walk across fields and roads. 4 stiles. Good views over 5 counties (weather permitting !!!). Subsequently modified because of conditions underfoot. Walk now mainly on roads with just two stiles.

26th January: City area. Leader Mike.
Meet at the Rose & Crown, Ledbury Road, Hereford. Flat walk within the city boundary along the River Wye and return through Rotherwas industrial estate. A 5 mile walk with no stiles.

9th February: Ledbury Town. Leaders Helen and Rob.
Meet at the Full Pitcher Inn, Ledbury. Take A438 Ledbury, after joining the by pass the Full Pitcher is 2nd left off roundabout. Moderate walk around Ledbury town along grassland tracks and pavement. Meals available. 3½ miles. No stiles.

23rd February: Haugh Woods. Leader Judith.
Approx 4 miles walk, some inclines, no stiles. Option for shorter walk if not lunching. Preorder lunch at Moon Inn Mordiford (HR1 4LW) and if possible share cars to woods. There could be a delay in ordering at 10 am as another group doing same, suggest arriving earlier or later.

9th March: Much Marcle. Leaders Margaret and Eddie. Meet at the Walwyn Arms HR8 2LY for a 3.5 mile mainly flat walk with 4 stiles. The walk takes us past Hellens House, a thousand year old yew tree and through a cider apple orchard. Parking and food available at the pub. Changed to Weston’s Cider Mill HR8 2NQ. Walk cancelled because of weather.

23rd March: From The Bay Horse. Leaders Jackie and Eric.
Meet at The Bay Horse HR4 0SD. Roughly 4 mile easy walk through woods, lanes and fields. No stiles but might be muddy. Food available to pre order.

6th April: Annual Lunch at Burghill Valley Golf Club. 12.30 for 13.00.

20th April: From the Mill Race at Walford. Leader Stan.
Meet at the Mill Race, Walford HR9 5QS for a 4 - 4.5 mile walk through the woods, hopefully lots of spring flowers. 1 stile. Just 1 road to cross. Back to the Mill Race for lunch.

4th May: Fownhope. Leaders Margery and Rosemary.
Meet at the New Inn at Fownhope HR1 4PE. A fairly easy walk with some inclines, about 3½ miles with 4 stiles. Good views over the village and towards Capler Woods. Meals available at the pub.

18th May: Kilpeck. Leaders Rob & Helen.
Meet at the Kilpeck Inn HR2 9DN. From Hereford take A465 (Abergavenny Rd), after 5.5 miles turn left at Kilpeck sign and proceed another 1.25 miles to Kilpeck village. A slightly harder walk than normal rewarded with great scenic views of surrounding area, over pastureland, farm tracks and country lanes - some inclines, seven stiles and one bridge-stile. 4 miles. (2 stops). Meals available - pre-order Menu will be advised nearer date.

1st June: From the Starting Gate. Leaders Jackie and Marcia.
Meet at The Starting Gate (Beefeater) Hereford HR4 9RS for a walk through the racecourse, through the park and across the common. An easy, flat walk with no stiles roughly 4.5 miles. Pre order lunch if required.

15th June: The Mynde, Wormelow. Leaders Malcolm and Janet.
Meet at The Tump Inn Wormelow HR2 8EJ. Take the A466 Monmouth Road off the A49 Hereford to Ross road at Callow for Wormelow. A mainly level 4 mile walk along fields and woodland paths. Food available at Tump Inn.

Changed to: A 4 mile walk, mainly level fields and woodland paths. Meet at Black Swan, Much Dewchurch HR2 8DJ. Take the A466 Monmouth Road off the A49 Hereford to Ross road at Callow for Wormelow. 29th June: Ross on Wye.  Leaders Margaret and Eddie.
Meet at the White Lion Inn, Wilton HR9 6AQ for an easy 3.5 mile riverside and town walk, following the footsteps of John Kyrle, the famous Man of Ross. No stiles but two short flights of steps. Parking and food available at the pub.

Changed as follows: Parking at the White Lion is very limited so suggest that we all use the large Wilton Road car park HR9 5JA which is just 200 yards passed the pub, see attached map, a charge of £1 for all day. Margaret will be at the car park to meet you. Eddie will be on the riverside terrace of the White Lion where we will start the walk from. The pub does not open until noon, however, facilities will be made available for us.
The White Lion would like our menu choices beforehand, so could you please forward  your choice to us by Monday 26th June, menu is attached.

13th July: Almeley. Leader Gareth.
Meet at the Bells Inn at Almeley HR3 6LF. Take the A438 Brecon Road up Kings Acre Road passing Oakchurch Farm Shop. At Letton turn right signposted Kinnersley and at T junction on main road turn left on a winding road into the village. Pub is at the top of the village on the right. A 4 mile flat walk with 3 stiles, passing Nieuport House. Some road walking.

Directions changed: From Hereford take the A438 (Kings Acre Road) and then the A4111 to Eardisley. At Eardisley turn right opposite the Tram Inn and just before the Strand Cafe. After 1.5 miles turn right and then left by the church. The Bells is then on the right.

27th July: Symonds Yat. Leaders Rob & Helen.
Meet at the New Weir car park Symonds Yat (East). From Hereford take A49 (South) then A4137 to junction of A40, left over dual carriageway and left signposted Symonds Yat (East). After 1/2 mile turn right go over narrow bridge and after further 1/2 mile turn right down narrow lane to Symonds Yat - car park at end of roadway.
A flat picturesque walk along the banks of the River Wye with linear section through woods, includes suspension bridge and ferry crossings. No stiles 4 miles.
Lunch at the Royal Lodge Hotel Pre-order menu available nearer walk date.

Meet at Stockton Bury Gardens, Kimbolton HR6 0HB. A49 to Leominster, continuing right at roundabout at far end of Leominster bypass. After 3/4 mile turn right signposted Kimbolton. A 4 mile walk up the Stockton Ride, then fields and orchards with some road walking. 4 stiles.

21st September: Hoarwithy. Leader Annie.Meet at New Harp, Hoarwithy, HR2 6QH. An easy walk with one incline. Some lane and road walking including crossing footbridge over River Wye with visit to Sellack Church. Approximately 4 miles with only one stile. Food available at the pub. Cancelled – concern re flood warnings.

5th October: Eastnor. Leader John.
Meet at the Woodshed car park (free parking) in Eastnor (HR8 1RA). Walk approximately 3 miles with gentle climbs. There are no stiles. The path up to the Eastnor obelisk is steep, but walkers are welcome to omit this and follow the circular path back to Woodshed (hot drinks and snacks available). Lunch at the Full Pitcher on Ledbury Bypass (HR82EN). We will need to pre-order by October 1st 2023 – menu to follow.

19th October: From the Three Elms. Leaders Jackie and Eric.
Starting at the Three Elms pub at the top end of Three Elms Road (HR4 9QQ) an easy 4.5 mile walk with no stiles. Fields and a bit of wood. Food available at pub to pre order – their new menu will be sent out later.

An easy amble through woods featuring Japanese Garden and fine views towards Hereford and the Malverns. Food available at Dinmore Cafe. No stiles, 3 miles. CANCELLED - very wet underfoot and heavy rain forecast.

30th May: Bromyard Downs. Leaders Rob and Helen.
Meet at the Downs car park. From Hereford A465 to Bromyard, proceed down by-pass and turn left ( B 4203 Stourport) after 1.25 miles turn sharp right - parking 400 yards on left.  Sharp incline at start then mainly flat walk over the Downs, fields, and farm tracks - excellent views. 4 miles, no stiles. Food available at The Three Horseshoes, Little Cowarne.  Details to follow nearer date. On return journey on A465 go through Stoke Lacy and at top of steep pitch turn right - Pub 2 miles on left.

13th June: Hanley Swan. Leaders Judy and Roger.
Meet and park at The Swan Inn, Worcester Road, Hanley Swan (WR8 0EA). About 4.5 miles - fields, lanes and quiet roads. Lovely views of the Malvern Hills, without having to climb any of them. One incline, 4 stiles. The Swan’s menu (it calls itself a gastropub) is a bit pricier than normal but it’s good and there’s an option of “lighter lunches” round the £15 mark, which are not light at all. Changed as follows as the Swan Inn at Hanley Swan was going to be closed for renovations: still park there, because our walk starts and ends at the pub but after the walk drive to the Bluebell Inn, Barnards Green, Malvern, WR14 3QP for lunch. We don’t have to pre-order.

Meet at the Axe & Cleaver, Much Birch (HR2 8HU) - 5 miles south of Hereford on the A49. A 4 miles country walk, fields, lanes, some stiles. Food available, order on the day. Food available at the gardens.

(If the Salutation Inn car park is full, please park in the village centre or the car park off B4230, HR4 8SE, SO401517.)

19th September: Finally a walk in the woods!. Leaders Jackie & Eric.
An easy 4 mile flat walk from Blue Diamond garden centre HR4 0SE meandering through woods and orchards with a few lanes thrown in.
No stiles. Food available at the garden centre.

17th October: Hanley Swan. Leaders Roger and Judy.
Meet at the St Gabriel’s Church car park, Hanley Swan, diagonally opposite the Duck Pond on the B4209 at 10am. About 4.5 miles - fields, lanes and quiet roads. Lovely views of the Malvern Hills, without having to climb any of them. One incline, 5 stiles. After the walk we go to the Bluebell Inn, Malvern WR14 3QP (only about a mile away and plenty of parking) for lunch. We can order our meals when we get there. An interesting and scenic walk of under 3.5 miles from Brobury House and Gardens HR3 6BS. Good parking opposite the entrance to Brobury House or in the Gardens car park. All paths are easy walking. There are 2 short road sections and 6 stiles.  There will be an opportunity to visit St. Andrews church near the end of the walk. Food available at the Brobury Gardens cafe - menu and ordering details to be advised nearer the time.

28th November: Exploring Bartestree and Lugwardine. Leader Judith.
Meet at The Godwins Bartestree HR1 4BX. Approx 3.5 miles, maybe a stile. Fields and lane walking. Lunch available, order on the day (we need to commit to 10+ people a week in advance as the pub is opening specially).

12th December: Mordiford. Leader Gareth.
Meet at the Moon Inn, Mordiford HR1 4LW. Park in overflow car park on right at top of car park. NO STILES!!! 4 mile easy fairly flat walk over Hampton Water Meadows, 1000 years old, never ploughed. 20 minutes on road with no pavement, single file.  Good views of electricity pylons and Hay Bluff, passing Dovecote. May be muddy by December. Possibly followed by a brief history of Tom Spring, the prize fighter.

2025

9th January: Brobury House walk. Leader Gareth.
Take road to Brecon A438 up Kings Acre Road passing Oakchurch on your right. One mile further on turn left up hill signposted Brobury Gardens (HR3 6BS) which are on your left immediately before Bredwardine bridge. Flat 4 mile walk through The Scar and down Monnington Ride, possibly to the church. Some road walking.

23rd January: Aylestone Park/Churchill Gardens/College Green.
Leaders Rob and Helen.
Meet at Swan Inn, Aylestone Hill, Hereford - order meals on the day. A suitable winter walk over pavements, parkland and lanes. 4 miles, no stiles.

6th February: Around Carey. Leaders Sheila and Malcolm.
Circular walk of approximately 4 miles, starting and ended at The New Harp Inn, Hoarwithy... passing through Carey. Fairly flat, easy walking along the banks of the river Wye. A set of steps down off the bridge at the beginning of walk with a couple of stiles. Short amount of road walking before returning to river bank. Interesting remains of Ballingham bridge on route. Food will be available at the New Harp Inn with good parking. Orders taken on the morning. Please note that this area is prone to flooding so if heavy rainfall in February we may have to cancel.

20th March: Ewyas Harold. Leader Annie.
Meet at the Recreation Ground/Village Car Park (bear left after bridge in village, soon turn right into School Road signposted Recreation Ground, then left at junction and left again, both signposted Village Car Park). This is a varied 4 mile walk taking in Ewyas Harold Common, a deer farm and Dore Abbey. There is some road walking and 2 sets of wooden steps on either side of the field with deer. Details of lunch to follow nearer the time.

3rd April: Annual lunch
